WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Hitting just -.011 for the match, the University of Pikeville volleyball team never got its offense in rhythm at Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday, losing 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-9) to the Patriots.
The most kills a Bear could manage were five by
Audri Ray, while
Sydney Hall chipped in with four.
Sydney Morris dished out a team-best 11 assists and
Dominique Melvin matched her with 11 digs. Hall, Ray and
Chelsea Staples each finished with a block.
Cumberlands won the match with 33 kills for a .271 hitting percentage, but also posted 15 service aces compared to just one for UPIKE. Sara Hayek led the Patriots with five aces.
Kelsey Eastham tallied a match-high eight kills, while Samantha Stuckwisch had 27 assists and Abby Dundon picked up 13 digs. Megan Schulte, Megan Ganser and Celine Du Tolt all finished with two blocks to lead Cumberlands' defense at the net.
Pikeville is back in action at 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday against Bluefield (Va.) at the UPIKE Gym.
