COLUMBIA, Ky. – Running up against a top-five team in the nation, the University of Pikeville women's tennis team lost 9-0 at No. 4 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) on Sunday at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.

After giving up default losses at No. 3 doubles and the final two singles spots, the Blue Raiders were able to seal the win after two successful doubles matches. Pikeville (1-7, 1-2 MSC) gets its next chance to bounce back at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, hosting St. Catharine (Ky.).

The Blue Raiders went ahead 4-0 after their top-seeded doubles pair of Sarah Bernos and Anna Gaprindashvili beat Mounia Sami and Thais Bezerra 8-2. Anna Helena Pinto and Jessica King followed that up with an 8-0 win against UPIKE's Shae Criswell and Michaela Hyden at the No. 2 seed.

With the win already wrapped up, the teams played a single pro set during singles in which Lindsey Wilson only lost one game through four matches. Sami tallied the game as she lost to the top-seeded Bernos 8-1.

Bezerra, Criswell and Hyden all lost 8-0 in their singles matches with Lindsey Wilson (5-4, 4-0 MSC) grabbing its final two points with defaults at the fifth and sixth seeds.
