PIKEVILLE, Ky. – No. 19 Campbellsville was too strong for the University of Pikeville women's tennis team on Sunday, recording a 7-0 shutout in Mid-South Conference play at Bob Amos Park.
The Tigers won all five singles matches in straight sets and gave up just one game through two doubles wins.
Top-seeded Megan Charity and Haley Dallas got things started for Campbellsville with an 8-1 win against
Mounia Sami and
Thais Bezerra, while Jenna Sallee and Lindy Charity pushed the lead to 2-0 with an 8-0 win over
Shae Criswell and
Kennedy King at the No. 2 seed.
Moving on to singles competition, Megan Charity won at the No. 1 seed over Sami 6-1, 6-2, Sallee won 6-0, 6-0 over Bezerra at No. 2 and fifth-seeded Kelsie Peckham won 6-2, 6-1 against King.
The final two singles matches were played out to one pro set with Lindsey Charity topping
Michaela Hyden 8-0 at No. 3 and Dallas capturing an 8-0 win as well against Criswell at the fourth seed.
UPIKE is back in action at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday against Georgetown (Ky.) in the final home match of the season.
