PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- Macarena Acuna won in her first appearance for the University of Pikeville women's tennis team, but it was all the wins the Bears could muster as they lost 8-1 to Cumberlands on Sunday at Bob Amos Park.
Marine Kennel lost at the No. 2 singles spot to Kaylyn Collette 6-0, 6-2 and Thais Bezerra dropped a marathon at the No. 3 seed 7-6 (4), 5-7, 10-8 to Victoria Sissoms.
Acuna, the Bears' No. 1 seed, won 6-0, 6-2 against Haley Owens, but she teamed up with Bezerra to lose UPIKE's lone doubles match 8-0 against Chanel Williams and Sydni Grimes.
UPIKE is set to host Lindsey Wilson at 2 p.m. ET on Monday, March 23 at Bob Amos Park.
