PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Pikeville women's tennis team lost to fourth-ranked Lindsey Wilson 9-0 on Monday in Mid-South Conference play at Bob Amos Park.
The Bears took forfeit losses at the fifth and sixth singles spots and another at No. 3 doubles to open play down 3-0.
Lindsey Wilson took a 5-0 lead after grabbing easy wins at the first and second doubles spots. Henar Munoz and Alicia Rodriguez won 8-1 over Macarena Acuna and Thais Bezerra, while Fiona Curty and Anna Gaprindashvili shutout Marine Kenel and Olivia Holbrook 8-0.
All four singles wins were won in straight sets as Acuna had the best showing, losing 6-4, 6-2 to Rodriguez at the No. 1 seed.
UPIKE returns to action at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, hosting Asbury.
