PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Pikeville men's tennis team was on cruise control against Georgetown on Saturday, winning every match on its way to a 9-0 win over the Tigers at the Bob Amos Tennis Courts.
The lopsided win started with doubles play where UPIKE got a win from top-seeded Dmitry Babenkov and Marcos Fondelius 8-1 against Austin Colliver and Ryan Simms. Francois Billet and Pawel Tarasewicz kept the good vibes going at No. 2, beating Chris Bartlett and Tristan Nosek 8-0.
Third-seeded Juan Reyes and Nico Rodenbusch closed out the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win over Ryan Abell and Josh Clay.
All six of the singles matches went to the Bears in straight sets with only Babenkov at No. 2 needing a tiebreaker, tallying a 7-6 (4), 6-3 decision over Bartlett.
The most lopsided win came from both Fondelius at No. 3 and Reyes at No. 4, posting identical 6-1, 6-1 win over Simms and Colliver, respectively.
UPIKE is back on the courts at 3 p.m. ET on Monday at Campbellsville.
