WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- The University of Pikeville men's tennis team lost for just the second time this season, falling 7-2 on the road at Cumberlands on Saturday.
UPIKE's two wins both came in singles play where No. 2-seed Enzo Douillac topped Daniel Fraser 6-1, 6-2 and fourth-seeded Fernando Fernandez took down Aatu Merenheimo 6-1, 6-3.
Cumberlands won the other four singles matches in straight sets. Two of them did go past regulation though as top-seeded Ariez Heshaam topped Jan Kappes 7-6, 6-2 and third-seeded Daniel Butcher got past Diego Reboredo by the same score.
All three doubles matches were competitive as UPIKE lost by scores of 8-5, 8-6 and 8-6.
