GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The University of Pikeville women's tennis team could only come up with one win in singles as it fell 8-1 at Georgetown on Saturday.
Top-seed Macarena Acuna claimed the lone win with a 7-5, 6-1 decision over Shae Henry. There were battles in other spots, such as No. 2 seed Mounia Sami losing 6-0, 7-6 to Amanda Moore, but Georgetown (10-5, 3-0 MSC) built a large lead fast with all three doubles points and held on for the win.
The Tigers' doubles scores were 8-2, 8-1, 8-0 in the top three seeds, respectively. Acuna and Sami claimed two games at the top seed in a loss to Natalie Fiepke and Henry.
UPIKE (4-3, 2-3 MSC) also lost a pair of singles matches 6-3, 6-3, including Thais Bezerra at the No. 3 seed and Cailee Marcum at the fifth seed.
