NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- The University of Pikeville men's tennis team went on the road and lost just one match in an 8-1 win over IU Southeast on Sunday.
The Bears led 2-1 after doubles play, leaving them needing just three wins in singles to claim the win.
Finding that decisive win was just a matter of time as UPIKE won all six singles matches, starting with fifth-seeded Pablo Casas topping Chris Braun 6-1, 6-1, followed by sixth-seeded Juan Reyes routing Austin LaFollette 6-1, 6-0.
No. 4-seed Eric Bernabue sealed the win with a 6-0, 6-4 rout of Bryson Mills. Only one of the matches took three sets as top-seeded Jan Kappes outlasted Nick Roby 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 as the last match to finish.
The Grenadiers claimed their lone win on the day at No. 2 doubles where Jon James and Chris Braun got past Bernabue and Fernando Fernandez 8-6.
