ATLANTA, Ga. -- The University of Pikeville men's tennis team opened the 2017 season with a 9-0 loss at Emory and 8-1 loss to Point on Saturday.

Nicolas Rodenbusch tallied the Bears' lone win of the day, topping Point's No. 4-seed Kyle Howell 6-3, 7-5.

Emory won all six singles matches in straight sets and lost just four combined games in doubles.

Against Point, second-seeded Eric Bernabeu had the most exciting match of the day, losing to Rafa Hewett 7-6 (4), 6-7 (4) and 10-8 in a match that saw tie breakers in the first two sets, followed by a 10-point tiebreaker to decide the winner.
