WISE, Va. – The shorthanded University of Pikeville women's tennis team fell at UVa.-Wise 7-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Top-seeded Macarena Acuna was part of both wins for the Bears as she topped Daria Tyschenko 6-1, 6-2 in singles and teamed with Cailee Marcum for an 8-3 doubles win over Tyschenko and Bailey Christoforatos.

Other than that it was all Cavaliers, which had already started the match up 3-0 with two singles and one doubles win by default. Taylor Carter's 6-1, 6-0 win over Bryanna Schroers at the No. 3 seed sealed the win for Wise as it was their fifth victory of the day.

Emma Wonn had a valiant effort in her loss to Carlysle Funk at the No. 4 seed, falling just 6-3, 6-3.

UPIKE is back in action at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday at Berea in Berea, Ky.
