Women’s Tennis Topped at No. 18 Campbellsville 9-0

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville women's tennis team was shut out on Thursday afternoon, losing to 18th-ranked Campbellsville 9-0 in Mid-South Conference play.

The Bears (0-7, 0-3 MSC) took forfeit losses at the fifth and sixth singles seeds, as well as at No. 3 doubles. In the contested doubles matches, top-seeded Macarena Acuna and Cailee Marcum lost 8-2 to Kaede Amano and Majella Nobile and second-seeded Bryanna Schroers and Emma Wonn fell 8-0 to Elizabeth Boik and Toni Pfeiffer.

Acuna was the only UPIKE player to wins games in singles as she was defeated at the top seed by Campbellsville's (4-4, 2-2 MSC) Amano 6-1, 6-3.

UPIKE is back on the courts on Sunday with a trip to Cumberland in Lebanon, Tenn.
