PIPPA PASSES, Ky. – The University of Pikeville women's team opened the 2017 season with a 6-3 loss on the road at Alice Lloyd on Saturday.
Macarena Acuna earned a 6-0, 6-0 win in the top-seeded singles match over Kennedy Damron for one of UPIKE's points, while the No. 1 doubles duo of Acuna and Emma Wonn also recorded an 8-0 win over Emily Burgin and Ashley Cornett.
The Bears' third points came with a forfeit at the No. 2 doubles spot where Bryanna Schroers and Kim Hammond did not have an opponent.
Alice Lloyd claimed wins at the second through sixth singles spots, including two forfeits, as well as a forfeit win in the third doubles.
