PIKEVILLE, Ky. – On the eve of its regular-season home finale, the University of Pikeville women's tennis team lost to Bluefield (Va.) 9-0 on Thursday at the Bob Amos Tennis Complex.
UPIKE (0-10) will make a quick return to the courts at Noon ET on Friday, hosting Georgetown on senior day for what will be the final tune up before the Mid-South Conference Championship.
Top-seeded Macarena Acuna fared the best of the Bears, losing to Gema Mendoza 6-3, 6-2, while the rest of the singles matches were won 6-0, 6-0 by the Rams.
In doubles action, Acuna was again part of the best Pikeville challenge as she teamed with Cailee Marcum at the top seed, losing to Paloma Sanchez and Arianna Orozzo 8-5.
The bottom two doubles matches were handled by Bluefield (8-6) 8-0.
