LEBANON, Tenn. -- Macarena Acuna won at No. 1 singles, but that was it for the University of Pikeville women's tennis team as it fell 8-1 at Cumberland on Sunday afternoon.
The Phoenix claimed default wins at No. 3 doubles and the last two singles spots, allowing it to seal the win with wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles.
Acuna and Cailee Marcum lost 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and Bryanna Schroers and Emma Wonn lost 8-0 at the second seed.
Acuna beat Ainhoa Garijo Garrido, the nation's 28th-ranked player, 0-6, 6-3, 10-5 at the top singles spots, but the remaining three matches were all won 6-0, 6-0 by Cumberland (2-6, 1-1 MSC).
UPIKE (0-8, 0-4 MSC) hosts No. 2 Lindsey Wilson at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Bob Amos Tennis Complex.
