LEBANON, Tenn. -- The University of Pikeville men's tennis team fell at 23rd-ranked Cumberland 8-1 on Sunday in Mid-South Conference play.
UPIKE (7-5, 1-3 MSC) got its lone win from Juan Reyes at No. 2 singles, while Cumberland (3-4, 1-1 MSC) won the rest in straight sets, as well as all three doubles matches.
Reyes outlasted Riccardo Ferraris 2-6, 6-3, 11-9 at No. 2, but the rest of the matches were won easily by the Phoenix. The next closest was Pedro Azevedo losing 6-0, 6-4 to Alejandro Rosas Garcia at the top seed.
Azevedo and Eric Bernabeu came close to getting a win for UPIKE at No. 1 doubles, but lost 8-5 to Thiago Lopes and Axel Lucich.
UPIKE hosts No. 5 Lindsey Wilson at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Bob Amos Tennis Complex.
