BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- For the third straight season, the University of Pikeville's Macarena Acuna is an All Mid-South Conference selection, league officials announced on Saturday at the annual awards banquet on the eve of the conference championship.

Acuna had been a first-team choice the previous two seasons, but collected second-team honors on Saturday. Acuna and her teammate Cailee Marcum received Academic All-MSC awards at the banquet as well.

In order to collect the academic honor, student-athletes must have achieved at least sophomore academic status and maintain a 3.25 GPA or higher. Acuna is a two-time recipient of the conference's academic award.

UPIKE is scheduled to open play in the MSC Championship at 9 a.m. ET on Sunday at Warren East High School in Bowling Green. The Bears are the seventh seed and will play No. 2-seed Cumberlands in the first round.
