PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Although their run at a national championship was cut short, UPIKE women's bowling is still earning titles on the national stage.
Senior Lauren Piotrowski was named the NAIA Women's Bowler of the Year by the NAIA National Office on Thursday morning. She was also a First Team All-American.
In addition, senior Jessica Wolfe was named a Second Team All-American as well.
Piotrowski finished off a two-year career by breaking her own single-season record score, averaging 207.1 pins per game this season, beating her own record she set last season of 205. She also finished second in the country in all divisions of collegiate bowling with a +36.0 average differential, meaning she averaged 36 pins more than the event average on the season.
The Schenectady, N.Y. native won four events this season and finished in the top ten in all but two of the 12 events this season.
Meanwhile, Wolfe had an outstanding season in her own right, averaging 197.9 on the season. She picked up an individual win at the MSC Indianapolis Collegiate Classic in February and finished in the top 10 in nine of Pikeville's 12 events this year.
Wolfe's +26.8 average differential was 11th amongst NAIA competitors this season.
This is the first season the NAIA has handed out official All-American awards, but both were also NCBCA and NAIA Coaches Association All-Americans last season as well.
