Pikeville, KY – Noah Thomas highlighted the Bears performance in the Horace Turner Open Friday night, tallying first place finishes in both the weight throw and shot-put events. The Bears fielded both Thomas and
Bobby Allums who tallied a third place finish in the 60 meter dash.
Thomas continued his progression in the throwing events, etching himself in the school record book once more with a 14.93-meter throw in the weight throw. Thomas outthrew the runner-up by 1.16 meters to claim the top spot in the event.
For the first time in the sophomore's career, Thomas won both the weight throw and shot-put with a 13.40-meter toss in the shot put. The Ashland, KY native bested seven competitors in the event, trumping the runner-up by 0.87 meters.
Runner
Bobby Allums managed a podium finish in the 60 meter with a time of 7.09. After running a 7.07 in the prelims, Allums notched his second podium finish of the season in the final. Allums also competed in the 600 meter run, finishing with a time of 1:41.03.
