Bowling Green, KY – Mid-South Conference officials released the bracket for the 2021 MSC Tournament on Saturday evening, with UPIKE women's basketball taking the sixth seed. The Bears will host 11-seed Cumberland (Tenn.) on Wednesday, February 24
th at 2PM in the UPIKE Gym.
The Bears take the No. 6 seed following a regular season where the team went 13-8 overall and 9-8 against conference opponents. Due to inclement weather, the Bears' final two scheduled games against Thomas More and Freed Hardeman were cancelled. In the lone game between the Phoenix and Bears this season, UPIKE was victorious by a final score of 62-50. The Bears have won seven of their last ten against Cumberland, including the last five straight dating back to January of 2019.
The MSC bracket has a slightly different look than in previous seasons as the result of COVID-19. The top four seeds in the conference are (1) Thomas More, (2) Campbellsville, (3) Lindsey Wilson, and (4) Cumberlands (KY). Those four teams earn an automatic bye to the quarterfinals while the remaining eight teams will play opening round games hosted by the higher seed, with winners advancing to the quarterfinals.
Following the completion of opening round contests, the remainder of the tournament will be played at the Bowling Green Arena in Bowling Green, KY. The quarterfinal round is set for Saturday, February 27
th followed by the semifinals on Monday, March 1
st. The MSC Championship game will be on Tuesday, March 2
nd.
