Bowling Green, KY – Reigning MSC Champions UPIKE women's bowling got rolling on the 2021 season this weekend with a pair of top three finishes at the MSC Baker Bash. The varsity unit knocked down 7089 pins on the weekend to finish third overall while the first JV unit finished with 6573 pins to finish second.
The MSC Baker Bash is the first of five regular-season events hosted by the Mid-South Conference and consisted of 20 baker-style games on Saturday and 20 more on Sunday. Baker games basically take a set lineup for each team who bowl in a particular order for the first five frames before the lineup flips over for the last five. UPIKE's varsity lineup included

UPIKE's varsity squad finished day one in fourth, trailing Shawnee State after totaling 3475 pins. The team managed their best score of the competition in the 10
th game, striking for 226 pins which was the third highest score in the entire competition.
The Bears began slow on day one tallying scores of 154 and 148 in the first two games before breaking 200 in the fourth game of the day. On the second day, game 32 was the best for the varsity unit as they tallied a 215.
Overall, the Bears averaged 177.45 pins per game throughout the course of the competition, averaging 173.75 through the first 20 games. The team improved on day two, averaging 181.15 pins.
UT-Southern claimed the Baker Bash title with a total of 7594 pins while Campbellsville finished runner-up with 7188.
The Bears fielded a pair of JV teams, with the first finishing runner-up with 6573 pins. Tennessee Southern took the top spot in the JV bracket with 6951. The second JV team finished just short of the top three, knocking down 6440 pins to finish fourth.
