Stamper Claims Third POW Award This Season

Bowling Green, KY – Morgan Stamper became the second player in UPIKE women's basketball history to win three MSC Player of the Week honors in a single season on Monday morning. Stamper claims her third career honor and second straight following the Bears win over Mount Vernon Nazarene last week.

The Independence, KY native has continued to grow her game in several ways as the Bears have navigated a challenging 2021-22 schedule. Currently leading the NAIA in offensive rebounds per game (6.8), the MSC in rebounds (166), and averaging 17.6 point per game, Stamper has built herself into somewhat of a powerhouse.

The Bears have been steady on the climb following a few early season heartbreakers against ranked opponents. In the last two weeks UPIKE has defeated two top-25 teams in Rio Grande and Mount Vernon Nazarene, trumping the latter by 16 points. Stamper recorded an incredible seventh straight double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds.

The Bears get back to work in conference play tonight, January 3rd against University of the Cumberlands. Tip-off between the Bears and Patriots is slated for 6 PM.
