Louisville, Ky. – UPIKE women's bowling finished first in power points and runner-up in the match play bracket at the NAIA Louisville Invitational over the weekend.
Nicole Gilbert led the Bears in team play, garnering all-tournament honors with her second-place finish.
The event was the first NAIA Invitational for bowling and was held at Fern Valley Strike & Spare in Louisville. The format consisted of 16 baker games followed by five team games.
UPIKE totaled 7767 pins to win the power points total, dropping 3080 pins in baker play and 4687 in individual games. MSC leader UT-Southern finished runner-up with 7669 pins. The Firehawks topped the Bears in individual play by 33 pins but UPIKE's 131 pin advantage in baker play secured them the top of the leaderboard.
Gilbert's 1013 pins were just 57 pins less than winner Lindsey Brown from UT-Southern, completing her best individual performance of the season. Her best game was the fifth, where she dropped 237 pins.
Kristina Catoe was also an all-tournament performer, finishing fifth with a 994-pin total. Catoe fell short of the fourth-place finisher by a one pin.
