Women's Bowling Claims Two Superlatives; Lands Seven All-MSC Selections

Bowling Green, KY – The Mid-South Conference announced the 2021-22 women's bowling season awards Thursday morning, with UPIKE claiming both Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. The Bears also landed seven players the first and second team All-MSC lists, leading all MSC institutions.

Fourth year senior Emily Tull was named 2021-22 MSC Women's Bowler of the Year, becoming the eighth player in program history to earn the award. Tull led the MSC with an average of 200.6 pins through 16 games. The Baltimore, MD native tallied 3,209 pins in three MSC tournaments, breaking 200 in eight games.

Freshman of the Year honors went to Bellefontaine, OH native Erica Warne who becomes the fifth player in program history to claim the honor. Warne bowled 15 MSC games, totaling 2,872 pins. Warne averaged 191.5 pins per game and broke 200 in five games. Warne's first all-tournament finish of the season came at the Brunswick Southern where she finished third with 1246 in six games. Warne followed the performance up with a runner-up finish at the Glenn Carlson Invitational where she bowled an 1897 in nine games.

Landing First-Team All-MSC honors for the Bears was Savannah Croft, Kristina Catoe, Nicole Gilbert, as well as Tull and Warne. The honor is the second for Catoe, who was named the 2020-21 MSC Freshman of the Year. Catoe is currently ranked 21st in the USBC individual rankings with an average of 194.541 pins per game.

Tull has been First-Team All-MSC for two consecutive seasons, making her total three yearly awards after claiming second team honors as a sophomore. She is currently ranked 45th in the USBC standings with an average of 187.4 pins per game.
Nicole Gilbert earns her second straight First-Team All-MSC award and is currently averaging 189.78 pins per game. The junior won her first tournament at the Southeast Matchplay Challenge in November, and was named MSC Player of the Week for her performance.

Warne and Croft both claimed their first All-MSC awards with their first-team distinctions.

Stephanie Crider and Vanessa Fuzie landed Second-Team All-MSC honors for the Bears. The honor is the second of Fuzie's career, after claiming first-team honors a season ago. One of Fuzie's top performances of the season came at the Las Vegas Shootout where she led all MSC bowlers with a seventh place finish and averaged 205.33 pins per game. She was named MSC Bowler of the Week twice this season.

Crider has been All-MSC for three consecutive seasons since starting with the team in 2019. Crider's top performance of the season came in an individual victory at the Crossroads League Tournament No. 3 where she knocked down 866 pins.
