Zanesville, OH – The University of Pikeville women's tennis team traveled to Muskingum University Tuesday afternoon, and took down the Fighting Muskies 7-0 for their first sweep of the season. This win moves them to 5-3 overall, as they will be right back in action tomorrow at Midway University.
UPIKE won all three doubles matches while only losing four games.
Luisa Diaz and
Andrea Hurtado pick up their fourth doubles win as a team,
Camila Agudelo and
Gabriela Guacanes win their second, and
Sara Contreras and
Riley Mullins claim their third.
The Bears dominated the Muskies in singles play, only losing 10 games in the six matches, including two 6-0, 6-0 sweeps from
Luisa Diaz and
Riley Mullins. This is Diaz's third singles win of the season and Mullins fourth. Hurtado won 6-1, 6-1 for her team-leading fifth win, Guacanes won her third singles match of the season 6-0, 6-1. Agudelo won her first singles match of the season 7-5, 6-1 and Contreras claimed her fourth 6-1, 6-0. This is the Bears second straight sweep over the Muskies, with the other coming in 2019.
