Charleston, WV – The University of Pikeville Men's and Women's Track & Field teams competed in the Golden Eagle Invitational today hosted by NCAA Division II University of Charleston. The men did not record a team score while the women finished ninth out of twelve teams.
The Bears were led by
Valerie Kendrick who scored sixteen points during the day with second-place finishes in the shot put and discus throws. She recorded a throw of 11.46m in the shot put and 39.20m in the discus throw.
Verlecia Scarlett also had a solid day for UPIKE. She scored eight points, with three coming in the shot put and five in the hammer throw. She had a personal-best mark of 40.36m in the hammer throw to finish fourth and finished sixth in the shot put at 10.62m.
Bobby Allums finished ninth in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 10.95 seconds and 11th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.63 seconds.
Ethan Moore and
Ethan Rowe both competed in the discus and hammer throws for UPIKE. Moore hit a personal best of 30.20m in the discus and posted a mark of 29.23m in the hammer throw. Rowe had a toss of 28.89m in the hammer throw and 30.60m in the discus.

The Bears head to Lexington, Kentucky next weekend to compete in the Kentucky Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky on Friday, April 22nd, and Saturday, April 23rd.
