Georgetown, KY – The University of Pikeville women's tennis team lost a close dual match Sunday afternoon at Georgetown College, 4-3.
After dropping the doubles point, UPIKE tied the match at 2-2 after wins at No. 4 and No. 3 singles but the Tigers pulled away down the stretch. The win on court four came from
Gabriela Guacanes 6-3, 6-2 for her fifth win of the season.
Luisa Diaz won 6-4, 6-2 on court three for her fifth win this season.
Sara Contreras also recorded her fifth singles win this year, with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 5.
Guacanes and
Andrea Hurtado won the Bears lone doubles match on court one, 6-1 over Samantha Spady and Emma Hill. This is their first win as a team this year.

The Bears are now 6-5 overall and 2-5 in the Mid-South Conference. UPIKE returns to Bob Amos Complex Tuesday afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. match with the visiting University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks. These teams split a pair of matches last season.
