Pikeville, Ky. - UPIKE men's tennis improved to 6-3 on the season and 3-1 in conference after a 4-0 victory over the Thomas More Saints.
Martin Lorenzo and Alfonso Robinson were defeated in their match, but the Bears earned the doubles point after winning the next two matches. Juan Diego Alzate and Mirko Dedich, along with Valentin Ortiz and Paulo Castillo both won 6-3.
Due to rain, UPIKE and Thomas More played to four team points. Valentin Ortiz won 6-1 and 6-2. Juan Diego Alzate followed up Ortiz's match win with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Paulo Castillo secured the win for the Bears after defeating his TMU counterpart 6-1 and 6-4.
The Bears will pick it back up tomorrow afternoon when Shawnee State comes to Bob Amos for the Battle of the Bears.
