Pikeville, Ky. - The Bears got back in the win column this week with a 5-2 win over the Shawnee State Bears.

Doubles: 

After falling in the first doubles match, the Bears took the doubles point. Hannah Thompson and Elizabeth Davis got a 6-2 win. UPIKE took a 1-0 team lead after Katharina Steib and Sara Contreras teamed up for a 6-2 win to cap off doubles play.

Singles: 

After dropping the first two singles matches, UPIKE came back to win the next four. Genesis Medina tied the team score at 2-2 after a 6-0, 6-1 sweep. Katharina Steib put UPIKE back up in team play with a 6-2, 6-2 win. UPIKE clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win by Sara Contreras. In the final singles match of the day, Hannah Thompson capped it off with a 6-2, 6-4 victory to give UPIKE a 5-2 win over SSU. 

Today's victory over SSU is UPIKE's first MSC win of the season. Next up for Coach Cailee Marcum's team is a trip to Versailles to take on Midway University.
