GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The University of Pikeville women's golf team made it three titles in three tournaments this week when they won the Georgetown College Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
Â
The Bears ran away with the championship, winning by 44 strokes over second-place Midway A. They led by 26 strokes after the opening round on Monday.
Â
UPike's two-day total of 603 (301-302) established a new school record for 36 holes.
Â
In addition, the Bears entered play on Tuesday with three players tied for medalist honors with first-round scores of 73.
Â
In the end, sophomore
Carly Crooks repeated her 73 to win the title. It's her second consecutive championship and the fourth of her playing career.
Â
Her two-day score of 2-over 144 was two shots ahead of her twin sister
Renee Crooks, and five shots ahead of freshman
Tayla Howroyd.
Â
The trio made up the entirety of the all-tournament team.
Â
"We're playing really good golf right now," said Coach
Nelson Scott. "It was fantastic to look at the leaderboard and see that we had the three lowest rounds in the field, but our entire team is playing fantastic at this point.
Â
"We hope we can keep it up next week."
Â
Next week the Bears are in the East Tennessee Collegiate in Johnson City, Tenn., where they will, for the first time this season, see teams from their new league, the Appalachian Athletics Conference.

Midway A finished second in the tournament with a two-day score of 647 (327-320). Midway B was third at 691 (356-335).
