RICHMOND, Ky. – The University of Pikeville women's golf team continued its torrid pace this season, posting a second-place finish in the Gibson Bay Intercollegiate this week.

The six-team field featured four Top 25 teams and another receiving votes at the par 72, 5,974-yard Gibson Bay Golf Course.

Individually, junior
Tayla Howroyd tied for the championship with a 12-over 228, shooting 74-79-75. She then won the event with a par on the first hole of the playoff.Â

Meanwhile, senior
Renee Crooks was third in the 40-player field at 14-over 230, shooting 74-73-83.

No. 11 University of the Cumberlands came away with the win, posting a 54-hole score of 59 over par.

UPike, ranked 17
th, finished second at 71 over, 12 strokes behind the Patriots.
Â
No. 9 Lindsey Wilson moved up to third in Tuesday's final round, 88 over par. Milligan, ranked 20
th and the only other AAC team in the field, finished fourth at 93 over.

Midway, which received votes in the poll, was fifth, 137 over, while Campbellsville was sixth at 148 over.

UPike had five players in the top half of the field. Senior

th at 24-over par, while freshman
Keira Howroyd was 18
th at 25-over, while graduate student
Lauren Holmes came in 19
th at 26-over par.

Tiffanie Tran was 50 over for the tournament.

The Bears will wrap up play for the fall semester in the AAC Fall Showcase. That will be held Oct. 20-21 at the Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Ga.
