JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The University of Pikeville women's golf team finished one stroke behind tournament champion Milligan University on Tuesday in the East Tennessee Collegiate.

The tournament was held at the Johnson City Country Club, which played 5,800 yards for the ladies.

UPike finished with a two-day score of 608 (299-309), one shot off the pace of Milligan, which posted scores of 300-307. It was the first tournament in four outings that the Bears haven't won the team title.

News was better on the individual side where sophomore
Renee Crooks came away with medalist honors. The Toronto native stood third entering Tuesday's play and finished one-under par 143 (71-72), the only player in the field to finish below par.

She bested Milligan's Katie Castle, who was two strokes behind at 145 (70-75). Her twin sister
Carly Crooks finished third at 147 (70-77).

Freshman
Tayla Howroyd joined the Crooks' sisters in the Top 10, shooting 157 (76-81) to finish seventh overall.

Junior
Sophie Beverly just missed a Top 10 finish, recording a score of 161 (82-79) to come in 12
th. Sophomore
Lauren Holmes finished at 173 (84-89).

Playing as an individual, senior
Gabrielle Blankenship finished 11
th overall with a two-day count of 160 (81-79).

The Bears will be off now until Oct. 16-17 when they travel to Chicago to play in the TPC Deer Run Tournament.
