LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pikeville women's bowling program came away with wins in two tournaments this weekend and as a result, have won the Mid-South Conference regular-season championship.

The Bears spent Saturday winning the Lynne Jordan Memorial, while on Saturday it took the title in the Thomas Burris Memorial.

The final standings for the Mid-South Conference regular season is as follows:

The Bears will face the winner of the opening-round match between Lindsey Wilson and Union in the Mid-South Conference tournament, which will be played 22-24 in Bowling Green.

On Saturday, the Bears won the Jordan Memorial with a total of 7588, finishing atop the 17-team field by 103 pins over second-place Lindenwood (Mo.) University. While the events stood as Mid-South Conference competition, teams outside the league were eligible to compete. For league standings, non-conference schools were removed from the results.

In the five-team JV division, UPike's JV2 won the event with a score of 6466 while JV1 finished third at 6266.

Senior
Kristina Catoe led the Bears with an average of 205.4 over five singles games. The JV2 team was led by junior
Mikayla Blair with an average of 190.

The Sunday event, named for former Pikeville bowler Thomas Burris, also went to the Bears, who finished at 7397. Milligan University was second at 6961, while the University of the Cumberlands was third at 6900.

Graduate student
Kelsey Cummings finished second among the 154 individuals in the field, averaging 201.2. Maria Gonzalez of Webber International was the winner, averaging 205.2.

Pikeville had four of the top eight finishers in the field. Sophomore
Brianna Rogers was fifth, averaging 199.6, followed by sophomore
Victoria Hines at 199.4. Senior
Vanessa Fuzie was eighth with an average of 195.4.

Catoe averaged 187.6, while freshman
Haley Grabowski averaged 187.2. Junior
Hana Hackworth averaged 186, while Blair averaged 183.4.

The Bears will be back in action Feb. 3-4 when they travel to Lawrenceville, Ga., to compete in the NAIA Southeast Open.
