FOLEY, Ala. - University of Pikeville Archery finished third in the 2024 USA Archery 3D Collegiate Nationals this weekend.
Olivia Hale got the ranking round started for the Bears with a first-place finish in the recurve, scoring a 397. Elsewhere in the recurve, Bella Barrett took fifth with a 377 and Anna Howard shot a 368, good for eighth place. UPIKE was also well represented in the barebow, with Maggie Brensinger taking second and Kaylee Falter taking ninth place. On the men's side, John Shelby Stephens shot a 321 and finished fifth in the barebow. Nate Harper took first place in the fixed pins, shooting a 214 in round one and a 220 in round two.
John Shelby Stephens and Maggie Brensinger started the mixed team rounds with a 680 and finished first in the barebow. Jack Dinapoli and Olivia Hale took fourth in the recurve while Caden Jones and Emma Willis took ninth. Nate Harper and Natalie Holton rounded out the mixed team rounds with a fifth-place finish in the fixed pins.
On the men's side of the official team round, Jack Dinapoli, John Rose, and Kole Whalen shot a 954 and finished fourth in the recurve. In the barebow, John Shelby Stephens, Kyle Sturgill, and Logan Cunningham took second with a score of 867. Nate Harper, Tate Jobe, and Caleb Emrick rounded out the men's side of the official team round with 1,176 points in the fixed pins, good for fourth place.
The women's official team round started with a first-place finish in the recurve after Olivia Hale, Bella Barrett, and Anna Howard shot a 1,142, edging out Texas A&M by one point. In the compound, the trio of Emma Willis, Alyssa Tenney, and Alyssa Sturgill finished fourth with 1,197 points. Maggie Brensinger, Kaylee Falter, and Kennadi Mayer took first place with 907 points, 76 more than the second-place team. Rounding out the official team rounds with 1,007 points in the fixed pins were Natalie Holton, Cassie Haldeman, and Dana Wright.
In the mixed equipment round, Olivia Hale, Caden Jones, and Nate Harper finished third in qualifying with 1,252 points. In round one, the trio defeated No. 14 Blue Mountain College 120-115. Their run came to an end after No. 6 seed William Carey University won 123-112.
As a team, the Bears finished third in a field of 29 teams. The Bears finished with 37.0 individual points, 43.0 official team points, and 21.0 mixed team points for a total of 101.0 total points.
