PERRY PARK, Ky. - UPIKE women's golf took third place at the Klash In Kentucky tournament at the Perry Park Golf Resort last weekend.
Renee Crooks and Carly Crooks both shot a team-low 80 on day one, which tied for fifth overall. Renee birdied on a par five in the back nine and Carly birdied on hole 18. As a team, the Bears shot a 327 and were in second place after day one.
On day two, Renee Crooks, Carly Crooks, Tayla Howroyd, Lauren Holmes, Gabby Blankenship, and Sophia Sims all improved their scores from day one. Howroyd, Holmes, and Simms all improved their scores by six strokes. Renee birdied seven, Carly birdied nine, Blankenship birdied eight, and Holmes birdied sixteen.
The Bears shot 318 as a team on day two. Despite shaving off nine strokes from the previous day's score, the Bears finished in third place behind Northern Michigan and Ashland (Ohio).
Coach Nelson Scott's team will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday for the UPIKE Spring Invitational at StoneCrest Golf Course.
