BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Officials of the Mid-South Conference released the 2023-24 esports awards Monday.
In Valorant, Branston Carroll and Jacob Colwell earned First Team All-Conference honors while Cameron Morris was named Second Team All-Conference. Elathan Bowling was named First Team All-Conference in Overwatch and Branston Carroll earned Second Team honors. Joseph Hurley earned First Team honors in Rocket League. UPIKE had two First Team nods in League of Legends in Jacob Colwell and Jacob Yoh.
UPIKE esports was also well represented in the academic awards with ten Bears earning academic all-conference. To qualify for this recognition, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 or above on a 4.0 scale and must be in their third term or fourth quarter. The 2023-24 esports academic all-conference honorees for the University of Pikeville are Elathan Bowling, Kyle Elkins, Cameron Morrison, Logan Morrison, Tanner Morrison, Jacob Newsome, Kolby Newsome, Alex Rogers, Ethan Slone, and Lukas Woods.
The Champions of Character Team was announced as well. Those chosen for the Champions of Character Team are picked by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while exhibiting the five core values of the NAIA. Kyle Elkins was named this year's UPIKE esports Champion of Character.
