Archery opens season at 3D Regionals & MSC 3D Championships

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - University of Pikeville archery opened their 2024-25 season at the USA Collegiate Archery 3D Regionals and the Mid-South Conference 3D Championships.  

USA Collegiate Archery 3D Regionals: 

In the men's recurve, Jack Dinapoli and Kole Whalen finished eighth and ninth, respectively. The Bears had two top-ten finishes in the men's barebow. Coming in seventh was Logan Cunningham with a 277 and taking tenth with a score of 229 was Heath Dingus. In the men's fixed pins, Nate Harper finished in eighth with a score of 403.  

The Bears had two top-five finished in the women's recurve. Olivia Hale took bronze after shooting a 382 and Bella Barrett shot a 376, good for fifth place in the event. Alyssa Tenney finished seventh after shooting a 410 in the women's compound. Hunter Tunstill took eighth in the women's fixed pins with a 375.  

UPIKE was well represented in the barebow, with two top-three finishes and three top-seven finishes. Allison Collinsworth finished first with a 332 and Kennadi Mayer took third with a 317. Rounding out the event was Emma Terry with a 290 and a seventh-place finish.  

Mid-South Conference 3D Championships: 

In the individual rounds, Olivia Hale finished first in the recurve and Bella Barrett finished second. UPIKE also did well in the official team rounds. The team of Jack Dinapoli, Kole Whalen, and John Rose finished third in the men's recurve. In the women's recurve, Olivia Hale, Bella Barrett, and Anna Howard took gold after edging out Cumberlands 173-168. 

Logan Cunningham, Heath Dingus, and Kyle Sturgill took third in the barebow. Allison Collinsworth, Kennadi Mayer, and Emma Terry took first place in the women's barebow. The team of Alyssa Tenney, Alyssa Sturgill, and Emma Willis downed Union Commonwealth 181-171 to take third. UPIKE took first in the men's fixed pins after Nate Harper, Caleb Emrick, and Tate Jobe defeated Cumberlands 188-174. Rounding out the team rounds was Hunter Tunstill, Cassandra Haldeman, and Dana Wright who took fourth in the women's fixed pins.  

Jack Dinapoli and Olivia Hale opened the mixed team rounds with a first-place finish in the recurve. In the barebow, Logan Cunnigham and Allison Collinsworth knocked off Campbellsville 118-94 to claim third. Hunter Tunstill and Nate Harper finished third in the fixed pins. Caden Jones and Alyssa Tenney took fourth in the compound after being edged out by Union Commonwealth. 


Collectively, the Bears had five gold medals, one silver, five bronze, and three fourth place finishes for a total of 103 points and a third-place finish at the MSC 3D Championships. Next up for the Bears are the USA Collegiate Archery 3D Nationals in Foley, Ala., on October 3rd.
