DANVILLE, Ky. - University of Pikeville men's and women's track and field competed at the Centre Indoor Showcase hosted by Centre College on Saturday.
On the men's side, Zeke Hagley won the shot put and set a new facility record in the event. Hagley recorded a 15.81m throw, scoring ten team points. Keaton Day also had a good performance in the shot put after setting a new personal best of 9.69m.
The Bears also dominated the weight throw, with five of the top six finalists coming from UPIKE. David Exum won the weight throw and set a new facility record after recording a 17.33m throw.
Coming in second in the weight throw was Hagley, followed by Aaron Coffey after recording a 16.02m toss, a new personal best. Coming in at fourth and fifth were Langston Gibson and Alex Rogers, respectively. Avery Adderley made finals in the triple jump after recording a 12.67m. As a team, the men's squad finished with 42 team points and in sixth place overall.
On the women's side, Valerie Kendrick scored four team points after a 11.03m toss in the shot put, good for fifth place. Also having a good performance in the field events was Rylee Theiss, who threw a 10.60m in the weight throw, a new personal best.
One week after breaking the previous school record in the 60m dash, Heaven Carver broke the school record again with a time of 8.17 seconds. Hailey Little also set a new school record in the 300m dash with a time of 57.86. The women's team finished the meet in 16th place.
"Despite everyone not having PR, we competed well. Everyone still put up good marks and I look forward to seeing what we do over the next few weeks as we prepare for the AAC Championships," said Coach David Espinoza.
Next up for the track and field Bears is a trip to Springfield, Ohio, next Saturday for the Steemer Showcase hosted by Wittenberg University.
