WALESKA, Ga. – Saturday was a big day for
Zeke Hagley, and on Monday, he received the recognition he deserved.

Hagley was named the AAC Field Athlete of the Week after his performance in the Blue Raider Rumble, hosted by Lindsey Wilson University in Columbia, Ky.
Â
A junior from Ona, W.Va., Hagley won all three events in which he participated, taking top honors in the shot put, discus and hammer.

Hagley won the shot put with a throw of 15.01 in his first attempt. He outdistanced runner-up Marcus Bell of Campbellsville, who recorded a throw of 14.64 among the 12-player field.

In the discus, Hagley competed against 12 other competitors and was the winner thanks to a throw of 42.59 in his fourth of six attempts. Bell again finished second with a throw of 40.77.

Twelve competitors also were in the hammer throw, where Hagley won thanks to a 50.68 on his third toss. This time his closest challenger was his teammate
Alex Rogers, a senior from Pikeville, who recorded a throw of 46.75.

With only six throwers competing in the Blue Raider Rumble, the Bears finished third in the overall scoring of the eight-team field.

Hagley and his teammates will return to action this Friday when they travel to Charleston, W.Va., to compete in the Golden Eagle Invitational, hosted by the University of Charleston.
