Men's Track and Field Wyatt Oxley

Track & Field has 3 Champions at AAC Indoor Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Three members of the University of Pikeville track and field team were crowned Conference Champions at the 2025 AAC Indoor Track and Field Championships Monday and Tuesday.  

David Exum, Zeke Hagley, and Zach Mason became AAC Conference Champions in their events. Exum set a conference record and a personal record in the men's weight throw after a throw of 17.87m. Hagley won the men's shot put after a 15.00m toss and Mason won the men's high jump with a leap of 1.85m.  

The men's team cleaned up in the weight throw. As mentioned, Exum finished first, Hagley finished second with a throw of 17.40m, Langston Gibson took third with a 15.98m, Aaron Coffey came in fourth after throwing a 15.57m, and Alex Rogers took fifth after a toss of 15.53m. Exum, Hagley, Gibson, and Rogers all set new personal bests. In the men's triple jump, Avery Adderley recorded a 12.42m jump and finished third. Tenzing Lindeman threw a 13.09m in the shot put, a new personal best. 

On the women's side, Heaven Carver broke the school record and finished third in the 60m hurdles after running a 9.31. In the 4x400 relay, the team of Faith Newsom, Hailey Little, Gisele Young, and Kylie Hall set a new school record after running a 4:49.13. Hall also set a new personal best in the 200m dash with a time of 27.93s.  

UPIKE also had a slew of AAC All-Conference honors. In the men's weight throw, Exum was named First Team All-Conference, Hagley was Second Team All-Conference, and Gibson was named Third Team All-Conference. On top of his honors in the weight throw, Hagley was also named First Team All-Conference in the men's shot put.  

Upon winning the men's high jump, Mason was named First Team All-Conference in the event. Avery Adderley was named Third Team All-Conference in the men's triple jump and Heaven Carver was named Third Team All-Conference in the women's 60m hurdles.  

In addition to the all-conference selections, UPIKE also earned some individual awards. Hagley was named AAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and Exum was named AAC Newcomer of the Year. 

Next up on the schedule are the 2025 NAIA Indoor National Championships in Gainesville, Fla. Representing the Bears at Nationals are Exum and Hagley.
