OWENSBORO, Ky. - University of Pikeville archery competed in the 56th USA Archery Indoor Nationals this past weekend.
On the men's side, Tate Jobe took silver in the U21 fixed pins and then took seventh in the fixed pins collegiate. Jack DiNapoli took fifth place in both the men's senior recurve and the men's collegiate recurve. Kole Whalen finished fifth in the U21 recurve and Caden Jones came in ninth in the U21 compound. In the barebow, Kyle Sturgill shot an 825 which landed him ninth in the collegiate and tenth in the senior.
On the women's side, Anna Howard took gold in the U21 recurve and fourth in the collegiate recurve. Bella Barrett took ninth in the collegiate recurve as well. Kennadi Mayer had a great performance, taking gold in the U21 barebow and silver in the barebow collegiate. Right behind Mayer in the collegiate barebow was Allison Collinsworth, who also finished third in the senior barebow.
Alyssa Tenney shot an 1,146 in the compound, which was good for seventh in the senior division and eighth in the collegiate. Cassie Haldeman rounded out the results for the women's side with an eighth-place finish in the U21 fixed pins.
As a team, the Bears finished the event with two gold medals, two silver medals, two bronze medals, and one fourth place finish. UPIKE archery will be back in action on February 22nd in Harrisonburg, Va., for the USA Archery Indoor Nationals.
