LEXINGTON, Ky. - UPIKE men's and women's track and field competed at the EKU Spring Invite and Transylvania Pioneer Invites Friday and Saturday, respectively.
EKU Spring Invite:
Zeke Hagley finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 51.77m. Hagley also finished second in the discus throw with a 44.83m and third in the shot put with a 14.95m toss. Alex Rogers set a new personal best in the discus with a mark of 43.18m.
Aaron Coffey took seventh in the hammer throw after setting a new personal-best 48.57m throw. Tenzing Lindeman's 37.86m throw in the hammer throw was a new personal best. Keaton Day wrapped up the hammer throw superlatives with a 35.09m toss, a new personal best.
On the women's side, Gabby Cook set a new personal record in the hammer throw with a mark of 34.66m.
Transylvania Pioneer Invite:
On the women's side, Heaven Carver finished first in the 100m dash with a time of 13.19. In the 200m dash, Carver came in fifth after running a 28.21. Carver also took second in the 100m hurdles.
Finishing one spot in front of Carver in the 200m dash and making her UPIKE track and field debut was freshman Carlie Osborne.
Osborne ran a 28.04 in the 200m dash and came in fourth place, then came in third in the 400m after a 1:02.71. Osborne, Faith Newsom, Kylie Hall, and Jaida Garrett set a new school record in the 4x100 with a time of 51:31.
Garrett came in fourth in the 100m dash and eighth in the 200m dash. In the 800m dash, Hailey Little ran a 3:62, a new personal best.
In the throws, Valerie Kendrick finished first in the shot put after a 11.57m. Kendrick threw a 34.44m in the discus, good for second. In the hammer throw, Kendrick came in fourth after recording a 33.64m throw.
On the men's side, Zach Mason came in second in the triple jump after recording a 12.19m leap. Mason also recorded a 1.80m in the high jump which landed him a third-place finish.
Jon Luke Fields ran an 11.44 in the 100m and came in fourth. Fields also came in sixth in the 200m dash.
Gunter Young came in second in the pole vault and then ran a personal-best 25.69 in the 200m dash.
The track and field Bears will be back in action next Saturday at the Landon Bond Classic 2025 hosted by Berea College.
