KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - UPIKE women's tennis remained undefeated in AAC play after a 6-1 win over Johnson University Saturday.  

In the doubles, Yazmin Barrios and Azul Barrios opened the match with a 6-1 win over Marina Lasneaux Pereira and Paola Testa. Natalia Geraldine Salinas and Lilia Jerry gave the Bears the doubles team point with a 6-1 win over Berkley Clark and Maria Gracia Ponce. The doubles matches ended with Belen Cavallero and Gabriela Guacanes earning a 6-0 win over Caroline Rhoton and Isabella Stigall.  

Jerry opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lasneaux Pereira. The Royals got one back one the Bears in the next match when Testa defeated Guacanes 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Yazmin Barrios put the Bears up 3-1 in the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Clark, and Cavallero secured the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ponce. Salinas defeated Rhoton 6-0, 6-0 and Azul Barrios defeated Stigall 6-2, 6-0 to give UPIKE a 6-1 victory in the match.  

Next up for the Bears is a home match against the University of the Cumberlands on Monday at Bob Amos Park.
