WALESKA, Ga. – The Appalachian Athletics Conference has released its volleyball players of the week and for the third straight week, a University of Pikeville player has been honored.

Chloie Brinton has been named the setter of the week.
Â
It's the second straight week Brinton has received this honor. Two weeks ago, she was named the defender of the week.

A 5-8 junior from Lindon, Utah, Brinton helped the Bears open league play with a pair of wins over the weekend. She averaged 11.25 assists per set in 3-1 wins over Tennessee Wesleyan University and Bryan (Tenn.) College.

On Friday night, Linton had 37 assists as the Bears knocked off the Bulldogs, averaging 9.25 assists per set. She added two kills while also standing out on the defensive side of the net with 14 digs and a solo block.

She followed that up with an even better performance on Saturday morning, posting 53 assists in a win over the Lions for an average of 13.25 per set. Additionally, she had three service aces and a kill on offense while posting 12 digs and a block assist on defense.

Brinton now leads the AAC at 8.60 assists per set while also being tied for 14
th with 3.31 digs per set.

UPike is now 5-8 overall and 2-0 in conference action with a big week on tap and all of it at home. The Bears will host Bluefield (Va.) University on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday evening, they'll entertain Union Commonwealth University in another 6:30 contest, and Johnson (Tenn.) University will visit on Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
