CORBIN, Ky. – Women's golfer Tayla Howroyd got her senior season off to a flying start last week. This week she was rewarded for her efforts by the AAC.
 
The Edenvale, South Africa product was named women's golfer of the week.
 
Howroyd shot a three-round score of 225 to finish tied for sixth in the Wildcat Fall Invitational, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. The tournament was played at the 6,003-yard, par-72 Birck Boilermaker Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ind.
 
Howroyd recorded an opening-round score of 77 before closing the tournament with consecutive rounds of 74.
 
It's the third time in her career Howroyd has been named player of the week in the AAC. She earned the honor two times last season.
 
Howroyd is coming off a season in which she was named a third-team All-America by the NAIA. The Bears played in seven tournaments, and she played in the Top 10 five times.
 
For the season, Howroyd averaged 77.23 per round.
 
The Bears are currently hosting the 2026 Orange and Black Collegiate at StoneCrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg. They will be back in action on September 28-29 in the Invite and Innisbrook in Palm Harbor, Fla.
