CORBIN, Ky. – Scoring five goals in a single soccer game tends to get some attention.
 
That happened for UPike's Sara Ritter on Saturday, and as a result, she has been named the AAC offensive player of the week for women's soccer.
 
Ritter is a 5-7 junior forward from Louisville. On Saturday, she recorded all five goals in a 5-1 win over Columbia (S.C.) College. For emphasis, if any is needed, she did so on only six shots.
 
Ritter opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finding the back of the net at the 19:29 mark to give the Bears an early 1-0 advantage. 
 
UPike continued to pressure the Columbia defense, and Ritter struck again in the 32nd minute to double the Bears' lead.
 
In the second half, she recorded three goals in a six-minute span, scoring in the 82^nd, 84^th 88^th minutes.
 
Ritter now leads the AAC in the following categories:
 

• Goals with 8
• Points with 16, and
• Shots with 33

 
UPike is now 4-3 on the season, 3-0 in the AAC.
 
The Bears will return to action on Saturday morning when they face Freed-Hardeman. That match, at Bob Amos Park, will begin at 11 a.m.
