Bowling Green, KY – The Mid-South Conference announced their indoor track and field athletes of the week Monday afternoon, and UPIKE's
Valerie Kendrick was honored as the Field Athlete of the Week. This is the freshman's first time being honored this season and the first time in her career.
She was the lone Bear on the women's side to compete at Marietta College's Pioneer Open on Friday afternoon. She competed in the Shot Put and Weight Throw events, and for the third straight meet, she won the shot put. She recorded a mark of 11.84m to best the field by over a meter while placing third in the weight throw with a mark of 10.14m to record 16 points for UPIKE.
Kendrick will look to continue the great start to her freshman campaign when UPIKE competes at the Kentucky College Invitational on January 22nd.
