Louisville, KY – Women's track and field competed at the Kentucky Intercollegiate Indoor Meet on Saturday, recording three top-five finishes in the weight throw and shot-put competitions. They finished sixth overall in the meet.
Valerie Kendrick was the top finisher for the Bears in the shot-put, throwing for a distance of 11.67 meters to finish runner-up out of 14 in the final results. Kendrick threw for 10.40m, 10.08m, 11.01m, and 10.66 before tossing her best throw and second-place score on the fifth attempt. The freshman adds another top-three finish to her repertoire which includes three wins this season.
Verlecia Scarlett landed her first top-five finish of the season in the shot-put, landing fourth of 14 with a distance of 10.16 meters. Scarlett threw under 10m in her first three attempts, fouled twice, but managed her best throw on the final attempt to secure fourth spot.
Also in the shot-put event was freshman
Bethany Tackett who finished ninth with a distance of 8.73 meters. Tackett stayed consistent on her attempts, mustering her top throw on the fifth attempt.
Scarlett, Kendrick, and Tackett also competed in the weight throw event which included 10 competitors.
Verlecia Scarlett took the top spot of the three with her second-place performance with a throw of 12.64 meters.
Valerie Kendrick landed in seventh with a 10.27 meter throw while Bethany Tacket finished eighth with a distance of 9.77 meters.

th at the Tiger Paw Classic held at the Norton Indoor Complex in Louisville, KY.
