Pikeville, KY – UPIKE athletic director Kelly Wells announced Tuesday afternoon the hiring of Logan Langseth as the new Head Coach of the UPIKE women's soccer program. Langseth becomes the fifth head coach in program history and comes to Pikeville after a one-year stint at Kentucky Christian University, where he served as both the women's soccer coach and as interim athletic director.

Langseth said, "I am committed to creating an environment that encourages high expectations for education, progress, and the creation of leaders that will assist the University of Pikeville in spreading its mission throughout the university and community. It is my belief that intercollegiate women's soccer provides what is necessary for young women to elevate their minds, enhance their education, and become leaders among their fellow Bears and community.

I am extremely thankful for my colleagues old and new, especially Coach Wells for this opportunity to join the Bear Staff.  This spring we will look to create a positive and unique culture and use that as a foundation to compete in one of the most competitive women's soccer leagues in the country this coming fall." 

Langseth brings a plethora of coaching experience to UPIKE, making stops in the high school, club, and college coaching ranks before landing in Pikeville. Before spending the last year in Grayson at Kentucky Christian, Langseth was the head women's soccer coach at Florida Memorial University for one season in 2020. His season at KCU saw him win their first two NAIA games in program history and grow their roster by two-thirds.

In 2019, he was the head women's soccer coach at the now-defunct Cincinnati Christian University where he led them to their first playoff berth in more than three years. He spent 2018 as an assistant coach at Northern Michigan University.

In 2016 and 2017, he earned his master's degree at Tiffin University, while also serving as the assistant men's soccer coach and recruiting coordinator. Langseth spent the 2015 season in Ada, Ohio at Ohio Northern University. In between his time with the Polar Bears, Langseth was the facilities manager at Apex Sports Zone and head soccer coach with the Ohio Extreme in the Lima, Ohio area.

Logan's first collegiate coaching position was just down the road from his alma mater Penn State Berks at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania where he spent the 2014 season as the assistant men's coach.

Before Albright, Langseth was the head or assistant coach of several club teams while also spending a year as a teacher in the Reading area. He also helped completely overhaul the Reading School District soccer programs on both the men's and women's side.  

As mentioned, Langseth went to Penn State Berks, played four years of soccer, and was a decorated player for the Nittany Lions, ranking in the top ten in program history in shots attempted, games played, and games started. He is from East Petersburg, PA, and graduated from Penn State Berks with a degree in Global Studies, Political Science and Contemporary History Option in 2012.

Langseth inherits a Bears team that finished this season 5-13, which included winning their first Mid-South Conference game since the 2014 season.
