Bowling Green, KY – After a strong weekend at the Pepsi Cumberlands Invitational and Distance Carnival hosted by University of the Cumberlands, Valerie Kendrick has been named Mid-South Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week. This is the second time in three weeks that Kendrick is being honored and second time in her outdoor career. She was also named Indoor Field Athlete of the Week earlier this year.

Kendrick recorded 23 points for the Bears this weekend, with wins in the discus throw and shot put. She won the discus by 2.79m with a mark of 38.18m for 10 points before a toss of 11.34m in the shot put gave her another 10 points. In the hammer throw, her throw of 32.65m was good for sixth place and three more points.

This was the second week in a row that Kendrick won the discus event and was the first time in her outdoor career winning the shot put. She now has three wins during the outdoor season, as she continues her great freshman campaign. UPIKE will be back in action this weekend in Charleston, WV for the Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by the University of Charleston.
